The third son of Yakumo Koizumi. After graduating from Waseda Junior High School, he approached Yaichi Aizu to be his mentor. He inherited artistic talent from his father, as well as from his great uncle Richard Hearn, and became a Fauvisme artist, after having studied at the Tokyo Fine Arts School. He enjoyed good fellowship with Ichinen Somiya and Katsuzo Satomi. As he painted the canvas over and over, he reflected on the “battle between the blood of the West and blood of the East.”
