Shoko Imano is an artist who pursues “border” as his own theme. The “borders” include the boundaries between self and others, body and spirit, skin and outside and so on. He stayed in Roma, Italy, at the Coming Artists Overseas Study Program of Cultural Affairs Agency from 2008 to 2009. His paintings are layered again and again so the surface of the skin has gentle and enfolding ambience.
